Sonia Alvarez

Born in the city of Buenos Aires on September 22nd, 1985, she began her musical studies at the age of 7, particularly attracted by the harp sounds.

She entered into the Carlos López Buchardo National Conservatory of Music when she was 9 years old. Today, she is an advanced piano and classical harp student.

In Paraguay she took advanced classes on the Paraguayan harp performance with great masters of the instrument.


On numerous occasions she participated in the Cosquín Festival, the greatest
folkloric event in Argentina.

She participated in the "Argentinean Folklore Gala Evening", Colón Theatre,
in Buenos Aires, together with the most prominent exponents of the national
music and dance.

She participated in prestigious International Festivals in Cuba, Brazil, Colombia,
Mexico and Paraguay.

She has a number of compositions of her own, among others "En esa noche tan
azul", for which she was awarded the 2nd prize in the "ROCHAS" del Arpa
Festival, in Asunción -Paraguay.

In May 2000 she presented her first discographic work including national and
Latin-American folkloric classics.

In October 2005 she presented her second discographic work maintaining the
same folkloric line and incorporating tangos.

In November 2005 / April 2006 she was hired by the Al Murooi Rotana Hotel in Dubai,
United Arab Emirates.

In June and July 2006 she made an extensive cultural and artistic tour in
Mexico again.

In November 2006 she participated in the "XII International Festival of Art, Ricardo Nieto" - Palmira - Colombia.

In February 2007 / July 2007 she was hired by the Shangri-La Hotel of Singapore.

In September and October 2008, new cultural and artistic tour in Mexico.
